Design Notes

Design considerations were how to best insert this truncated Csx30 protein into GSDMD and GSDME without disrupting the folding of the native gasdermin protein it was inserted into.

Strecker et al., Science 2022 showed that the Csx30 protein which originates from the marine bacterium Desulfonema ishimotonii, coudl be truncated to amino acids 396 to 565 and still be cleaved by its native protease, Csx29.
